How to Test Your Poker Knowledge….

Hello Ladies and Gents,

Have you ever questioned yourself, How can i become a better poker player?

Well have no fear, as today i offer you a great opportunity to read a great article within Pokerspace called “How to test your poker knowledge“.

This was written by David Tubbs aka Social Dave. He illustrates in his article the benefits of taking part in the poker school available at Pokerspace, and new opportunities through playing certain events most importantly the DSU free roll.

You may or may not know, Pokerspace has recently joined partnership with DSU (DeepStacks University) which is fronted by Mike “The Mouth” Matusow. The DSU is a subscription based poker education site with the aim to take your game to the next level. With the partnership of Pokerspace it is possible to take part in certain events to win a free subscription etc and get access to some of the best poker education available.

This I’m sure sounds very interesting, so i urge you to follow the link here and read the article in full, I’m sure you wont be disappointed.

Thanks again for reading and hope you take the opportunity in the above and previous blogs, there is plenty on offer with more blogs to come. I wish you good luck and happy hunting on the felt.

Until next time…..

Pokerspace – PSOP

Hi guys and gals,

for blog image

Today I’m going to walk through with you a great event that Pokerspace implemented early this year. This is called the  Pokerspace Series Of Poker or better known as PSOP

Yes, i can hear you all saying, “cheap spin off from the WSOP”. But in truth, this has become a great event at Pokerspace, and will only get better and bigger, the more that find out and the more that register to play. This year saw its  first PSOP winner, and since then, players are lining up to play to be the second player to be crowned PSOP Player Of The Year.

With help from Pokerspace’s article board, i will run through a little more about the event, and some of the changes for the comming event either this October or November 2009.

Special thanks to Steve Black and Michelle Licata (PS Admins) for the information here.

How you can participate in this years PSOP:

The PSOP now consists of 2 major parts: Monthly Circuit Events and the PSOP series of Championship Events.

PSOP Monthly Circuit Events:
During the last full weekend of every month, from November until May, Pokerspace will be hosting a circuit event on Saturday and Sunday at 14:00 EST. While the Sunday event will always be No Limit Holdem, the Saturday event will vary from month to month. Each event will be a cash buy-in ranging from $22 to $55. PS members can participate by buying in directly with cash,  qualifying through PS Point and small cash buy-ins, or buying in directly with PS points. Check the calendar on a weekly basis for specific times of these satallites. Each Circuit Event winner will receive an exclusive accolade.

PSOP Championship Events:
The main PSOP series of Championship events will run in July and August. Starting on July 3rd/4th, we will host 2 championship events each weekend at 14:00 EST. In total there will be 16 events of varying poker games, including the final main event in the last weekend of August. The buy-ins for each of these events will range from $22 to $55. PS members can participate by buying in directly with cash,  qualifying through PS Point and small cash buy-ins, or buying in directly with PS points. Check the calendar on a weekly basis for specific times of these satallites. Each Championship Event winner will receive an exclusive accolade.

How to get into a Circuit or Championship Event:
There are 3 methods to get into any Circuit or Championship Event:

First, buying in directly with cash. All you need is the password posted on PS and $ in your poker room account to get in this way.

Second, through PS point buy-in qualifiers. We will be hosting weekly PS Point qualifiers with buy-ins ranging from 90+10 to 270+30 and every 100 PS points in buy-ins will add $1 to the prizepool. For example, if a circuit event buy-in is $22 and 50 players buy into a 180+20 PS point satallite, the total prizepool would be 9000 PS points . In this case PS will give $22 seats to the top 4 players and the remaining 200 PS Points will go to 5th place.

Lastly, members will also be able to join PSOP events by buying in directly with PS points. Each $1 of the buy-in will cost 125 PS points. For example, a $22 buy-in will cost 2750 PS Points. You must contact support@pokerspace.com with your request to buy-in with PS points at least 7 days in advance to ensure registration.

Note that to play in any qualifier or championship event you MUST have a correctly submitted account at the poker rooms where the event is being hosted. If you submit your username incorrectly you will NOT be registered OR refunded. Also note that you do not need to have your account linked/tracked to Pokerspace to participate.

Payouts for the PSOP Circuit and Championship Events:
Each tournament will payout according to the standard payout structure of the poker room host.

PSOP Player of the Year:
For all of the PSOP Championship Events hosted in July and August, there will be a POY rankings system where players will earn points based on their finishes in each of the PSOP events. After the main event in August, we will be crowning the PSOP Player of the Year award to the PS’er that finishing at the top of those PSOP POY standings. The scoring is the same as the indy league scoring system with a few tweaks. For each championship event last place gets 1 point, second last gets 2, and first gets points equal to the # of players. However, any player that finishes in the money will get DOUBLE the points. For example, if there are 100 players in a event and top 20 get paid. First gets 200, 2nd gets 198, 20th gets 160, 21st only gets 79, 22nd gets 78, etc. Therefore, the PSOP POY will likely be the one that cashes in the most championship events.
POY Prizes:
Prizes will be given out to the Top 10 players in the PSOP POY standings. The prizes will be announced in June 2010.

This is a great event, and i can only inform you of how exciting it is to participate in, but if you are interested in this post or any of my other posts and wish to sign up to Pokerspace for FREE!!, then sign up here.

I hope this has given you all the information necessary, but as usual guys and gals, feel free to email me at riohostgra@yahoo.co.uk and i would gladly help and assist where necessary.

Good luck, and catch you at the felt soon!
